In lieu of shortening — or God forbid skipping — a workout at the time of year when you undoubtedly need it the most, you have to cut corners somewhere. Our suggestion: The locker room. Though a leisurely steam and long hot shower pair perfectly with a serious session, right now, the goal is to get in and out of the club faster than ever before. All it takes is a little prep work. Invest in these game-changing treatments now, and you'll shave precious minutes off of each locker room-to-life transition. Because, let's face it, you’ve got better things to do than worry about whether or not you have mascara on.
1 Instead of: Eye makeup
Try: Eyelash extensions
Sure, you can do two (or three) coats of mascara to lengthen and tint lashes and define eyes every single day. Then wash it off, wake up and do it all over again. Or you can simply have the effect 24/7. “Extensions can fake the look of mascara,” says Tamara Caless, lash specialist at Courtney Akai Lash Boutique in New York City. “The extensions are applied from the base to the tip of each eyelash individually with black glue, which looks like a light liner.” So you get the look without the smudging and clumping. 2 Instead of: Bronzer and blush
Who knew hair color had the power to give skin a healthy glow or suck the life right out of it? “Your hair color can change the undertones of your skin,” says Lisa Estridge, colorist at Eliut Salon in New York City. “In the winter people tend to go darker with their hair color for some reason, but without sun-kissed skin, that can make you look washed out.” Try doing a few very thin strands of highlights about two shades lighter than your natural color around your face. 3 Instead of: Foundation
