Mission Statement

Q is Equinox’s editorial site that was created to change the conversation on fitness and wellness by presenting it in an elevated way. To us, the body is the ultimate investment. We believe it takes equal parts inspiration and information to get you to commit—and that’s what Q provides.

Liz Miersch

A former SELF magazine fitness editor, certified trainer and the impetus behind staff lunchtime workouts, Liz lives for gravity-defying arm balances.

Sheila Monaghan
Executive Editor
An avid marathoner and recently-minted Ironman, Sheila's love for endurance events is matched only by her love of baking cookies. Before coming to Q, she edited health and fitness content at magazines such as SELF, Women's Health, and Details.
Ashley Martin
Creative Editor

A devoted surfer, Ashley spent three years at Women's Wear Daily. She's only semi-reluctantly trading the runway for the treadmill.

Brooke Alovis
Managing Editor
Her love of list-making, budget-building and story tracking makes Brooke, who joins us from Star Magazine and XO Group Inc., a very happy Managing Editor.  She now applies that to all things Equinox, including tracking her workouts.
Kevin Aeh
Lifestyle Editor
Kevin, a former Shopping & Style editor from Time Out New York and Time Out Chicago, is equally obsessed with indoor cycling classes and pop culture. You'll most likely find him either clipped onto a bike or binge-watching shows on Netflix.
Lisa Wheeler, NASM, ACE, AFAA

Lisa is the national creative program manager of group fitness at Equinox and a renowned choreographer, consultant and fitness expert.

Cassie Shortsleeve
Contributing Editor

A digital writer and editor, Cassie started her career at Glamour, but traded high heels for sneakers as an online editor at Men's Health. Cassie is the editor-at-large for Shape.com, a runner (with too many sneakers), and a Bostonian a heart.

David Harris

As the executive vice president of personal training, David has built Equinox's personal training program over the past ten years. He splits his time between the east coast and west coast and has mastered the art of taking the red-eye.

Alex Zimmerman, MA, CSCS, TPI
Tier 4 National Manager

Alex Zimmerman is a graduate of Columbia University and a certified personal trainer with over 10 years of experience. Alex is the National Manager of Equinox's T4 program, and is regularly quoted in media like The Daily News, Smart Money, Fitness, and Men’s Health.

Eimear Lynch
Contributing Editor
A contributing editor at Conde Nast Traveler, hotel-lover and SoulCycle enthusiast, Eimear is a Brooklynite by way of Dublin, Denver and Chicago. She's also all-too-versed in wedding lore: her book about bridesmaids will be released by Picador in Spring 2014.
Jasmine Moir
Contributing Editor

Jasmine is a longtime lifestyle editor and was most recently the executive editor of DailyCandy. She has a complex love/hate relationship with cycling.

Carol Espel, MS
A 20-year fitness industry veteran, Carol directs the group fitness and Pilates teams at Equinox. Her resume includes a master’s degree in exercise physiology and nutrition and a past life as a Broadway star.
Amy Gallo Ryan
Contributing Editor
After working as an entertainment editor, writing fashion copy and running her first marathon, Amy found her way to Equinox, where she has become a serious interval training devotee.
